Celebrating Flann O’Brien
07May08
The School of English, Drama and Film at University College Dublin is calling for papers for a projected volume of essays on Flann O’Brien to mark the fortieth anniversary of his death.
The volume will seek to reappraise O’Brien’s work and academic debate within the field of O’Brien studies. Aspiring contributors are asked to consider, among other topics, cultural and historical context; appraisals of O’Brien’s influences and legacies; queer readings of O’Brien; critical analysis of his journalism and his contribution to writing in Irish.
Articles should be approximately 7,000 words and be ready by November 1st, 2008, but those interested should send an abstract of 250 words in the first instance by June 30th to Jennika.Pierie@ucd.ie
